It’s only been a short time of operations here at I-81 Sports, but we’re already making history.
For the first time, our “L of the Week” is going to an anonymous individual — in this case, the as-yet unnamed and unidentified Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) trooper from the South Carolina at Texas A&M football game this past Saturday.
We may not know the officer’s name, but you already know the guy I am talking about.
Yeah, that guy.
The one who bumped shoulders in the tunnel with South Carolina receiver Nyck Harbor after Harbor scored a touchdown, and jogged into the tunnel from the end zone. The officer and Harbor made physical contact, and the trooper whirled, pointed, and yelled at Harbor.
The Texas Department of Public Safety responded rapidly, sending home the officer even before the game ended.
We get that law enforcement is a tough job but this is a bad look, dude… whatever your name is. It only takes the actions of one jackass like this to ruin it for everyone else.
This officer’s details might still be unknown, but his knuckle-headed decision here is going to live on for a long, long time.
As will his “L”, which springs eternal.
