Schadenfreude is defined as taking pleasure in the misfortune of someone else. And, when you’re handing someone in sports a big fat ‘L’ every week, chances are you’re also serving up some schadenfreude.
Right now, those who dislike Alabama football can enjoy schadenfreude anytime they want, like an all-you-can-eat buffet.
Let’s start with the quarterfinals of the College Football Playoff, where Indiana dogwalked Alabama in a 38-3 victory at the Rose Bowl.
Is it excessive piling on to hand Alabama the ‘L’ on top of their worst loss since 1998?
Yes.
Are we doing it anyway?
Also yes.
- It was the worst bowl loss for Alabama ever.
- It was the most lopsided defeat current Crimson Tide coach Kalen DeBoer had suffered in his entire head coaching career.
- Indiana had more rushing yards than Alabama had total offense.
- The Tide ran for a measly 23 net rushing yards against the Hoosiers, averaging out to a wimpy 1.35 yards per carry.
