For the third consecutive year, the Tennessee Titans are off to a lousy 0-3 start following last Sunday’s 12-7 road loss to the New York Giants. With Giants starting quarterback Jaxson Dart likely out for the regular season due to injuring his knee in Week 2 against the Los Angeles Rams, it was supposed to be easier for the Titans to pick up a victory. Yet, the team just couldn’t get the job done.
The Titans’ season so far has had a “reunion” theme. In Week 1, Tennessee‘s new head coach Robert Saleh took on the New York Jets, who fired him back in 2024. Then on Sunday, Titans’ offensive coordinator Brian Daboll faced the Giants, who fired him last November after serving as their head coach for four seasons. But just like Saleh, Daboll failed to get some revenge against his former team.
Here’s a recap of the Titans vs. Giants game and a preview of Week 4.
What Happened Against the Giants
It was an absolutely ugly game to watch. The Titans almost became the first team in NFL history to not get a first down before halftime. Luckily, Tennessee quarterback Cam Ward found wide receiver Wan’Dale Robinson in the end zone with 5:35 left in the first half. It was the only touchdown of the game for either team.
Ward, who’s in his second season in the NFL, hasn’t had a signature moment yet. It almost happened, though, at the end of the game against the Giants. With 24 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter on first and goal, he attempted to win the contest as he passed to receiver Elic Ayomanor in the back of the end zone. However, the pass was intercepted by New York safety Jevon Holland.
It was the first time this season that Ward has thrown an interception. He was the only player in franchise history to have thrown 11 touchdowns with one or fewer interceptions in an 11-game span.
The Titans had a chance to win a tightly contested game for the second straight week, but failed when it mattered the most. Ward completed 16-of-23 passes for 140 yards and a touchdown in the loss.
Tennessee‘s defense looked good, holding the Giants to four field goals and sacking quarterback Jameis Winston three times. Titans DL Jeffery Simmons was great, coming up with 10 tackles and a sack.
What’s Next?
The schedule gets much harder as the Titans travel to Baltimore to play Lamar Jackson and the 2-1 Ravens in Week 4. Jackson remains one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. The former Heisman Trophy winner has won two NFL MVP awards and who knows, maybe he’ll win another one this year since he’s been playing phenomenal football in 2026.
Jackson was awesome in Week 1 against the Indianapolis Colts, posting a 124.2 passer rating, throwing for 324 yards and a touchdown, and rushing for 40 yards and a score in a 41-23 victory. On Sunday in Rio de Janeiro, he completed a clutch 27-yard pass to receiver Zay Flowers, which set up a 56-yard game-winning field goal by Tyler Loop as the Ravens beat the Dallas Cowboys 34-31.
The matchup with Baltimore will also feature former Titans superstar running back Derrick Henry, who rushed for 144 yards and three touchdowns against the Colts and 89 yards versus Dallas.
Prediction
Yes, the Titans have a chance to beat the Ravens. Nothing’s impossible. But c’mon, it’s extremely unlikely that Tennessee wins this game, especially on the road. Ward and the Titans are no match for Lamar and Co.
The Titans will eventually get their first win of the season (maybe). But it definitely won’t be against Baltimore. Look for the Ravens to win by at least 30 in a huge Week 4 blowout. The Ravens are just too good.
