A couple of brutal beats yesterday on late goals (thanks a lot, Japan and Ivory Coast). Tunisia, meanwhile, just looked awful. Still a better performance Sunday than Saturday. We’ll try to keep the positive momentum rolling for the four matches on Monday’s schedule

SPAIN VS CABO VERDE

Our second overwhelming mismatch to this point, although Cabo Verde is a little more disciplined than Curacao. Nonetheless Los Rojas should roll here regardless of the status of Lamine Yamal. Spain loves to possess the ball and then possess the ball some more so Cabo Verde’s chances will be very limited.

Low Risk: Spain -1.5 (-325)
Average Risk: 2 leg same game parlay (-115)
  • Spain -1.5
  • Cabo Verde Under 6.5 shots taken

High Risk: Spain to win either 2-0 or 3-0 (+200)

BELGIUM VS EGYPT
This is a bit of an intriguing matchup. Belgium doesn’t have the highest quality control in the midfield when possessing the ball. Egypt has counterattacking wizard Mo Salah on the wing. Add to that a pretty decent back line and Belgium could have some problems. However, Belgium comes into this match in fantastic form.

Low Risk: Belgium Double Chance (-650)
Average Risk: Both Teams to Score Yes (+100)
High Risk: Belgium to win 2-0 or 2-1 (+285)

URUGUAY VS SAUDI ARABIA

Uruguay comes into this tournament a bit under the radar even though it is normally heralded as a legit contender, having been one of only eight nations to ever win this tournament. I think Uruguay’s hard-nosed style and tough back line will create problems for Saudi Arabia to score.

Low Risk: Uruguay to score (-650)
Average Risk: 2 leg same game parlay (-120)

  • Uruguay to win
  • Over 4.5 shots total on goal (-120)

High Risk: Uruguay to win either 1-0 or 2-0 (+200)

IRAN VS NEW ZEALAND

If you’re staying up late for this one, kudos to you and your dedication to this competition. For two nations not well known for their contributions to soccer, this game will feature two high-level strikers: Mehdi Taremi for Iran and Chris Wood for New Zealand. Iran is the better team, but no stranger to letting weaker teams in the net. Iran has conceded to Afghanistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan all in the last year and a half, so I think New Zealand can get on the board.

Low Risk: Iran to score (-350)
Average Risk: Both Teams to Score YES (+115)
High Risk: 2 leg same game parlay (+250)

  • Iran to win
  • Over 2.5 total goals (+250)
Record (through 6/14)

Low risk: 8-4
Average risk: 3-9
High risk: 4-8
